It is 1824 in central Missouri. Two children, Jimmy and Beth are left without their parents. Their parents were slaughtered by Indians that attacked their cabin on the Meramec River. Jimmy, Eleven -years-old and his sister Beth just five were safe in a root cellar while their parents were massacred. They had to escape by canoeing out of the area on the river.
